FETAL OV HGC CYST

BY DR NAJMA AIJAZ

In this clip, a rounded structure is seen in the lower abdomen near the bladder. If the fetus is female, this may represent an ovarian cyst, possibly hemorrhagic in nature. Postnatal correlation is recommended.
If the gender is male then In this clip, the testes are visualized within the abdomen, positioned near the bladder, consistent with their expected location during fetal development. Normal Fetal Development:
• Testes develop near the kidneys and descend through the abdomen into the scrotum via the inguinal canal.
• This descent typically occurs between 28 and 35 weeks of gestation.
• So, before 32–34 weeks, it’s normal to see the testes within the abdomen or inguinal canal.

Ultrasound Appearance:
• The testes may appear as round, hypoechoic structures near the bladder or lower abdomen.
• In late 3rd trimester, absence of testes in the scrotum may raise concern if both are not visualized or if one appears high up.
